After being denied his first World Championship in 1962 due to an oil leak, Clark emerged victorious in 1963 at just 27 years of age, at the helm of one of the one great Formula 1 cars, the Lotus 25. Clark had won 7 out of 10 races that season including a Grand Chelem in Mexico (his 5th so far), which meant he had qualified in pole position, set the fastest lap, and held the lead the entire race. The second place driver that season, Graham Hill, was an astounding 25 points behind Clark. 1963 would mark the first of two World Championships ultimately attained by Clark, and the start of the greatest decade of racing for Lotus, where they went on to secure 6 Constructors’ Championships.
